Brookville Businesses Work Together
Thrush & Son, in Brookville, Ohio, recently helped Flow Dry Technology to handle a short term warehousing problem it encountered.
In February, Flow Dry moved a small manufacturing operation previously located in Belen, New Mexico into its main plant in Brookville. The operation in Belen was purchased in 2009 to expand its ability to address a segment of the market for adsorbent packets used in medical, pharmaceutical, and neutraceutical applications. The Flow Dry operation in Belen was in a leased building that was not appropriate for proper process and quality control of the product. Flow Dry made the decision to move equipment and jobs to Ohio after the award of a Jobs Creation Tax Credit and an Outreach Grant from the State of Ohio in late 2010.
Although the operation was relatively small, the move required about 7 truckloads of equipment and inventory. As Flow Dry erected new racking and reorganized its warehouse space in the Brookville plant, it needed some outside warehouse space to house the overflow of inventory coming from Belen. After checking with the City of Brookville staff, Flow Dry connected up with Allen Thrush, Thrush & Son, who generously offered some appropriate warehouse space for Flow Dry to use for several months.
"We really appreciated Thrush & Son for providing the warehouse space we needed to complete the move process," said Doug LeConey, President of Flow Dry. "This is a great example of how Brookville helps its businesses to grow and how Brookville businesses work together for the success of the community".
In the next three years, Flow Dry expects that the market for adsorbent products used in pharmaceutical and neutraceutical applications will grow rapidly. Targeting this market for products in North America, the company feels it is positioned to increase sales and jobs based on both market growth and new product innovation.
